Stories and Real Advice from Non-Professional Home Builders
When
it comes to building, George, our cocker-spaniel,
pictured above, has as much experience as the rest of us.
In fact, if you take into account all the digging he has done
around the yard, he may have more experience!
Let me be clear on one thing right off. I am not a professional
builder. Any information I give here is from the lessons I
learned while doing my own building. Everything I have learned
was taught to me by asking questions, reading books and working
with the pros! Also, all information posted by other people
does not mean we agree with
them or are bound by what they say. There is no price that
can be placed on good knowledge. Make sure you are doing the
right thing before you endanger your self or your family and
friends.
While designing and building our cabin in Arkansas, I learned
to ask a lot of questions. I asked friends, family, neighbors,
architects, builders, contractors and even the nice lady behind
the register at Home
Depot. Any one who might know something I don't, they
are targets for my questions.
At
the time of this writting, we are preparing to finish the
cabin and build an earth sheltered home.
This site has been developed as a place to ask questions
of others. If you see questions about things that you have
been through, feel free to let us know. Under every entry
on this site, you will find a form where you can post descriptions
and even photos.
If
you come to this site with questions for me or others, please
feel free to ask using the same form. Find a subject on the
HOME page that is closest to your
question and type it in. Again, if you need to, feel free
to add a photo to help make your questions clear if you would
like.
If you find that there is no category for your question,
use the "Need a new category?" entry to post your
information or question. I will add categories as they are
needed.
It is my hope that you can find some use of the infromation
and pictures posted on this site by myself or anyone else
who is free to put up their information.
