Message: The first thing that many ask me about this site is, "Why Home Building Stories?"
I have built a cabin for our family and am preparing to build an earth sheltered house. I am not a builder, but I have done the work of a builder over the years.
When Frank Lloyd Wright designed many of his homes, he designed so that a handy home owner could build his or her own house. So many times in todays culture, people are told that there are certain things that you are simply not supposed to do, building a house being one of those things.
Well, I MAY be a little handy, but I am not a builder and I have discovered that I can build a house. With a little information, I can be pretty dangerous!!
I have been a bit lucky in a few respects, I am not afraid to ask someones opinion. When ever I get a builder or architect or anyone with a little experience cornered, I pull out my latest plans and see if they have any suggestions. Rather geeky, I know, but I am a web programmer and I have a license to GEEK!!
This site servers two purposes. First, I am asking your opinion base on your experience about what I am doing. Second, I hope that the information shared here by myself or others is helpful to you.
Building a place can seem a bit daunting, but believe me, IT CAN BE DONE!!!
