Message: Our cabin is not very big, 700- square foot. The soil on our property is very stoney and solid. I wanted to make some foundations for eight stacks of cinder blocks filled with cement and rebar. Setting these bricks on the ground is not a good thing from what I can see, though our ground could probably manage it quite nicely.
On a trip to Home Depot, I saw a block that was designed to either have a 4x4 sitting on end on top of it or a 2x accross it. The slots on the top of this block made this clear.
I wanted to use 8x8x16 blocks, so, after looking around for a premade block, I could not find any. Instead, I made a form and poured my own out of foundation cement. This is harder and denser cement designed for footings, etc.
