Subject: Cabin Foundation Center Footings
ID: 1
Message: The center footing of the cabin needed to be larger and heavier. It needed to support a stack of bricks aranged in a square with am 8x8 hole in the middle to accommodate the post. It also needed a larger foot print becaus it was going to be supporting a majority of the weight of the cabin. At least more than any of the small outer footings.
As a solid hunk of cement, it would have weighed over 500 pounds. If I could pour it in place, it would be no problem, but I was making these footings in S Texas then carrying them to North Arkansas. I have to shave any weight I could off this center piece.
I created this contraption for a one time use. The boxes are wired to the plywood to hold them in place. They are very secure.
Notice the center box is larger, this is to accomodate the center post of the cabin.
