Message: Making the Basement New – Recreate the Floors
By David Faulkner

The choice has been made to recreate the underground space in your home to a great entertainment room from just a storage bin. It will take some great new furniture pieces and a nice stereo package. The floor of this room will be the primary alteration early on in the process.

What is so special about the floor?

You might be thinking that the flooring is not so crucial. It is not something that most people investigate closely. Its importance stretches beyond just being a floor. This is the base of the house and your family deserves the safest floor possible.

The large amounts of houses are equipped with concrete for the underground room space floor. It is not false to say that it offers a huge benefit to the homeowner for cleaning purposes and will provide air conditioning to the space when the weather is hot outside. Concrete floors should be mulled over when altering the underground room for recreation purposes.

A concrete floor may not be smooth and can cause accidents for those walking on it. If not put in correctly, it can crack and come apart which will leave debris and powder that causes respiratory damage. If you are happy with the way the concrete sits on the floor and is not in bad shape, shoes inside the underground space will be necessary.

Underground floors that are wood will also cause issues if they are not taken care of in the right way. Basements are on the lowest level of the house and this leads to damp air that causes the wood to mold. If the wood is covered with the right poly, it will not be a problem.

An added issue with the wood floor comes with the recreation area because of the large amount of people walking on it. This can cause wear and tear on the wood. You could consider a rug on the mostly traveled areas. The carpet will need to be based on whatever the environment is.

Choices exist that are unique to each individual. An expert will be able to give you the best flooring options and how much it will cost you to install it.

Your underground flooring needs to be nice to look at, be able to handle the traffic, and allow for safety to all who enter it. It is the basis for the rest of the dιcor.
