Message: I had to cut down one beautiful pine tree to build the floor for our Arkansas cabin. You can see here that the grain is gorgeous!! Once it was poly-ed to death it shined like I wanted.

My initial intention was to use a double 2 x 6 to span the nearly 32 feet to support the roof. You wan see later that there is a diagonal support in the middle.

Fortunately, Jen's father, a builder in the family, cam and looked at it and said that there is NO WAY that is strong enough.

Now, here is a lesson for me... I was really upset. I was offended and it took me a few hours to get over it, but later that evening we ordered another $900 worth of wood from our local supplier and were ready for building the next morning.

My father-in-law made up and once again we are as good a friend as ever.
